EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Imagine yourself immersed in dance, surrounded by the beauty of the Texas Hill Country. You wake each morning with a ritual stretch on the green banks of the Guadalupe River. Your days are leisurely paced with morning and afternoon classes and plenty of time for hiking, swimming, shopping, practicing, and relaxing. Your nights are filled with music and dance, with henna, campfires, and with frienships old and new. This is Tribal Dance Camp!

The first of its kind in Texas, Tribal Dance Camp is held at Vista Camps - a girls' camp in the summer months. The accommodations are rustic, but not primitive. Lodging is provided in community cabins which have glass enclosed and screened windows and electricity. All cabins have adjacent bathroom/shower facilities with private stalls and hot water. Three hearty meals are provided by the catering staff in the indoor dining hall with offerings for regular and vegetarian diets. Classes are held in a spacious gymnasium, with a raised stage, and a professional sound system. Shows and evening events are held in the gymnasium and on the river banks.

The beauty of the Hill Country is breathtaking in APRIL. This is the perfect, serene environment in which to expand your creative horizons and revitalize your passion for dance!

Pricing includes all classes, shows, activities, meals and lodging (except Day/Night Pass and Day Only Pass, when offered). You will be prompted to select your menu preference and your t-shirt size as well as sign-up to perform. All campers are welcome and encouraged to perform in our evening shows on a space available basis. This retreat is for adult women only.   All deposits and payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.  Event is limited to 50 campers - don't delay!

ALL CORRESPONDENCE WILL BE SENT TO YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS ON FILE - SAME AS YOUR PAYPAL. IF YOU PREFER THE INFO TO BE SENT TO ANOTHER ADDRESS, PLEASE LET US KNOW!

Michelle Manx

Michelle’s love for dance started at the age of six when she began participation in ballet and tap classes. She became interested in bellydance when her mother enrolled in a bellydance class in the 70's and with her background in anthropology, the study of ethnic dance was a natural progression. Michelle has studied the art of bellydance since early 2002, including Suhaila Salimpour technique (currently working towards her Level II Certification), Jamila Salimpour Format (Level I certified), various forms of Tribal Bellydance, and Egyptian Cabaret. She has also supplemented her knowledge of dance and mo vement by taking Bharata Natyam and yoga classes. She currently teaches Tribal Fusion Bellydance in Austin, Texas. Michelle performs as a solo artist and is also a member of the bellydance collective Raks Helwa. One of her favorite venues of performance is at tattoo conventions, where she developed her signature style of incorporating the glamour, poses, and facial expressions of the pinup girls of the 40’s and 50’s into her Tribal Fusion style. In 2008, Michelle had the honor of debuting her 'Pin-up Bellydance' workshop at Tribal Fest 8 and was invited to teach again at Tribal Fest 9 and Tribal Fest 10.  In the summer of 2009, Michelle was selected to become the new producer of Tribal Dance Camp in association with Bahaia's HOT Seminars.
